Weekly Trends: Floor Jansen Leaves Nightwish, Sepultura Say Goodbye to Mexico, Wage War Make Landfall

By J. Tanner Garcia · October 2026

Heavy hearts this week. One of the biggest voices in metal walked away from the biggest band she ever fronted, Sepultura said goodbye to a country that has shown up for them since 1989, and a Florida metalcore crew is headed our way.

Floor Jansen leaves Nightwish: 14 Years, One of the Great Voices, and a New Beginning

Floor Jansen and Nightwish announced on October 15 that they are parting ways by mutual agreement. Fourteen years. She stepped in back in October 2012 after Anette Olzon's abrupt exit, joined for real in 2013, and sang on Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Human :II: Nature. The band says they will keep going and start a new album in 2027. Floor says endings create new beginnings, and her second solo record, Hytress, lands January 15, 2027. I'm not going to act like I know what happened behind closed doors. What I know is that woman can sing anything you put in front of her, soft, huge, operatic, raw, and she did it at the top of the genre for over a decade. Go back and spin her years with that band. Then go buy Hytress.

Sepultura say goodbye to Mexico: The Last Show Outside Brazil Hits the Pepsi Center

Sepultura played Mexico City's Pepsi Center on October 11, and Andreas Kisser told the crowd it was the band's last concert outside Brazil. Derrick Green, Kisser, Paulo Jr. and Greyson Nekrutman ran through Refuse/Resist, Territory and Arise, then closed with Roots Bloody Roots. The crowd chanted their name between songs. They first played Mexico in 1989. That's 37 years of Mexico showing up. The very last show is November 7 in São Paulo.

Wage War make landfall: The New Record Is Out and the Tour Starts in San Antonio

Wage War released Landfall on October 9 through Fearless. Briton Bond and Cody Quistad split the vocals like always. The Emergency Broadcast tour kicks off October 25 in San Antonio with We Came As Romans. That's a short drive, Corpus. Pull up.
